Pricing, estimating and quoting for a home painting project can dictate how the job will go, set clear expectations, and allow a home painting company to provide the best possible service for its client.

Traditionally, a painting estimate would require the painting service provider to come into the home or business to inspect the job as well as provide the outline and pricing details. And while this type of quoting is still a viable option, virtual tours and estimates have been the preferred choice for many home painting clients in the wake of the current pandemic.

Virtual Tours The New Future of In Person Estimates

What is a virtual tour?

A virtual tour, otherwise known as a “virtual estimate” is what we refer to as the creation of a price quote for your home painting project developed from a remote site, or not at the location of the project. At Encore Painting, safety is our number one priority, and we will continue to innovate and create new ways of serving our customers, and offering virtual tours for in-home painting in Toronto, Ontario is one of the many ways we are adapting.

How do I properly conduct a home painting virtual tour?

When it comes to virtual tours and estimates, there are some things you should know. We are going to walk you through the best way you can help streamline the virtual tour process so that we can provide the best possible quote for your in-home painting project in Toronto.

Some general rules of how to best take a photo for a virtual painting estimate are:

  • Provide 3-4 photo angles of the room. This is important, as we’ll need to see the different depths and wall configurations. It’s also best to take pictures in natural lighting (in daylight with windows open and artificial lights turned off), so that we can get a truer picture of the current wall colour(s).

  • Provide a wide view of the room. Stand as far back from where you’re taking the photo, so that we can see the full picture/view of the room.

  • Provide measurements. For each area, please provide rough room measurements, so that we can better understand the wall size and room’s square footage

  • Record any damage. If there’s any damage to the walls or ceiling, please provide a close-up photo or video, so that we can properly see the damage and estimate its extensiveness.

What if I prefer an in-person estimate?

On-site and in-person estimates can still be completed for both interior and exterior home painting projects in Toronto as well as commercial buildings (vacant or occupied). The expert painters at Encore Painting will do whatever it takes to get the job done – and that also means working weekends or after office hours (for commercial projects). We provide free inspections and detailed proposals – both in person and offsite – which includes materials, equipment, ladders, etc.
